UN Security Council backs Trump’s Gaza plan

The UN Security Council has voted in favour of a U.S.-drafted resolution endorsing President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza, aimed at moving beyond the current fragile ceasefire

SECURITY

Authorises International Stabilisation Force (ISF) that will work with Israel and Egypt, along with newly trained Palestinian police force, to help secure border areas and ensure process of disarming non-state armed groups, including Hamas

States that Israeli forces will fully withdraw once ISF has established operational control

GOVERNANCE

Approves creation of Board of Peace (BoP), chaired by Trump, as transitional authority to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction and economic recovery

BoP will supervise technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee responsible for day-to-day governance

FINANCE
Permits creation of World Bank-backed trust fund to manage reconstruction
