Actors revealed for Harry Potter TV series

HBO has announced the young actors who will play the lead trio in the new TV series adaption of JK Rowling’s book series, Harry Potter. The youngsters join other actors already confirmed in the series

Alastair Stout (left) as Ron Weasley, originated by Rupert Grint (right) in films

John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, played by Richard Harris*

Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, played by Alan Rickman

Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, played by Maggie Smith

Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, played by Robbie Coltrane

Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, played by David Bradley

Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, played by Ian Hart

JK Rowling: Author will act as executive producer on show, which will span at least a decade and allow more time to explore books’ plot lines without time constraints of film. Value of Harry Potter global brand estimated at $25bn
