Plans to combine the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary and President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday with a military parade in central Washington DC are being criticised as an authoritarian display of power

Jun 14: Total cost of celebrations, which have been altered to include parade at president’s request, could reach up to $45 million

Parade will include more than 6,500 troops, 150 military vehicles – including 28 M1 Abrams tanks – as well as 50 helicopters and aircraft representing different wars
