Jan 7, 12:45 local time: Jimmy Carter’s coffin arrives at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, having been flown from Carter Center in Atlanta

13:15: Carter and family travel by motorcade to U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington DC, in recognition of president’s military service

14:00: Carter transferred to horse-drawn caisson for procession to U.S. Capitol. Military pallbearers carry casket into Capitol Rotunda, where it will lie in state

15:00: Members of Congress pay respects during service in Rotunda. Public invited to pay respects until early Thursday

Jan 9, 09:00: Carter leaves Capitol with a ceremony – procession heads to Washington National Cathedral for national funeral service at 10:00

11:15: Family accompanies coffin back to Joint Base Andrews to fly to Plains, Georgia, for private funeral service before private interment at Carter residence in evening
