Sweden to send Ukraine surveillance planes

Sweden is to provide two ASC 890 surveillance aircraft to Ukraine, seen as crucial for identifying incoming cruise missiles, drones and aircraft, as well as seaborne targets


ASC 890 AEW&C
Airborne early warning and control aircraft
Based on Saab 340 airframe

PS-890 Erieye radar: Active phased array detects and tracks targets at range of up to 450km

Link 16 network: Allows link with F-16 fighters that Ukraine will receive from European allies

Two turboprop engines

Crew: Six – two pilots, four radar operators

Maximum speed: 528km/h 
Maximum altitude: 7,620 metres
