Argentina’s presidential contenders

Three candidates are vying in a tight race for the presidency, with far-right libertarian Javier Milei slightly ahead in the polls

Economy minister tasked with turning around fortunes of ruling Peronist bloc,
as Argentina battles 100%-plus inflation and with some four-in-10 people in poverty

Patricia Bullrich, 67 Together for Change (centre-right)
Former security minister represents opposition centre-right coalition. Pledges tough austerity measures to stabilise economy and tough- on-crime approach to law and order

Javier Milei, 52 Liberty Advances (far-right)
Liberal economist backed by voters tired of political status quo. Proposes to dollarise economy, shutter central bank and scrap some ministries to shrink state
