The Canadian province has requested military assistance from the federal government as it battles widespread wildfires

Over 90 wildfires burning as of May 8, including 27 “out of control”

Production shut down of at least 280,000 barrels of oil per day – more than 3% of Canada’s output

Around 700 firefighters deployed, with 1,000 more requested from other provinces
