Queen’s coffin taken by car to Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh

MONDAY, SEP 12

Procession along Edinburgh’s Royal Mile to St Giles’ Cathedral, with King Charles and royal family members following on foot

Crown of Scotland placed on coffin for service inside cathedral
 
From 17:00
Public can view coffin at St Giles’ and pay their respects for period of 24 hours

19:20: King and other royals hold private vigil at cathedral

TUESDAY, SEP 13

17:00: Short prayers at St Giles’ before coffin is taken to Edinburgh Airport to be flown to London, accompanied by Princess Royal
  
20:00: Coffin arrives and is taken by road to Buckingham Palace, to rest in Bow Room

WEDNESDAY, SEP 14
 
14:22: Coffin placed on gun carriage and taken to Palace of Westminster, with King and other royals walking in silence behind

15:00: Coffin arrives and is placed on raised platform for short service conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury. Body to lie in state for four days

MONDAY, SEP 19

10:44: Coffin taken to Westminster Abbey for state funeral

After funeral
Procession takes coffin to Wellington Arch, before heading to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle for committal service

Final resting place
King George VI Memorial Chapel, where Queen’s parents and sister are buried. Coffin of Prince Philip, Queen’s husband of 73 years who died in Apr 2021, expected to be moved from Royal Vault at Windsor to rest beside his wife
