1 Under Brexit deal: EU law on customs and goods is applied at ports in Northern Ireland (NI)

2 Goods “at risk” of entering EU: EU tariff applied to NI trader receiving goods from UK. If goods stay in NI, UK can refund trader. No refund if goods move to Ireland

3 New plan: Goods destined only for NI go into Green Lane and are not checked. Goods destined for Ireland-EU go into Red Lane and checks are carried out

Agri-food: Exports of plants and food to NI are controlled by Trusted Trader scheme – although there may still be some limited checks on live animals


State aid: Bill will remove NI from EU’s state aid regime and bring it fully under UK subsidy control

Regulation: Bill removes jurisdiction of European Court of Justice – key priority for UK throughout Brexit process

European Commission: Insists ECJ must have role where EU law applies
