Format: First 48-team FIFA World Cup. Group stage consists of 16 groups of three teams – top two teams in each group progress to knockout rounds. Total 80 matches.

Distance: Almost 4,800km between most northern venue (Vancouver) and most southern (Mexico City)

Past tournaments: Mexico (in 1970 and 1986) and U.S. (in 1994) have already hosted World Cups on their own. Canada staged 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup
