Twitter rolls out “Safety Mode”

Twitter is expanding its Safety Mode trial to millions of randomly chosen English-speaking users in an attempt to stem toxic and abusive posts


Safety Mode: Automatically blocks accounts for seven days that reply to original poster with harmful language or send uninvited, repeated replies or mentions

Check settings to see if you have been chosen for trial

Sep 1, 2021: Early trials begin to test Safety Mode among 750 users

Feb 15, 2022: Beta version rolls out to around 50% of users (randomly selected) in United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand – at least 53 million people
