Portugal’s Socialists win majority

The centre-left Socialist Party, led by Prime Minister Antonio Costa, has won an unexpected majority in Portugal’s snap general election, which followed an impasse over the proposed state budget for 2022
  

Costa’s Socialists won 41.7% of vote – allowing them to enact legislation without support of other parties over their four-year term
