Peter Jackson sells Weta Digital to Unity

Unity Software, a 3D video game software developer, is acquiring Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital effects company for more than $1.6 billion

 
Acquisition will allow Unity to enable real-time 3D content for Metaverse*

Market cap: $48.49bn

Unity has helped to create around 50% of all mobile phone games and 60% of virtual reality content


$1.63bn deal allows Unity to license Weta’s advanced software tools to creators worldwide through cloud-based workflow. Weta’s team of 275 software engineers will join Unity’s Create Solutions
