Iran has approved seven
mostly hard-line candidates for its June 18 presidential election, while barring several prominent figures allied with outgoing president Hassan Rouhani


Mohsen Rezaei
Former chief of Revolutionary Guards, has unsuccessfully contested two presidential elections – in 2009 and 2013

Saeed Jalili
Senior member of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Was chief nuclear negotiator during presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Alireza Zakani
Conservative politician owns two Persian language media publications and heads research department of Iran’s parliament

Ebrahim Raisi
Judiciary chief seen as clear frontrunner. Believed to be favourite of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi 
Conservative politician first elected in 2008, currently serves as deputy speaker of parliament

Abdolnaser Hemmati 
Central Bank of Iran governor, seen as ally of Rouhani and one of two reformist candidates in presidential race

Mohsen Mehralizadeh 
Senior reformist political figure, served as vice president during presidency of Mohammad Khatami
