FIFA proposes extra substitutions

FIFA is proposing to allow teams to make up to five substitutions per match when play resumes. The plan aims to protect players from injury and fatigue amid fixture congestion generated by the coronavirus pandemic


FIFA PROPOSAL

Competitions to permit teams to use up to 5 substitutions per match

Substitutions take place within maximum of 3 slots, as well as at half-time

Additional 6th substitute during extra-time periods to remain

DEC 31 Includes all domestic and national matches to end of December 2021

Subject to approval by International Football Association Board, with implementation at discretion of competition organisers

May 25: Deadline for European leagues to tell UEFA whether they want to complete or cancel seasons
