LEAGUE PHASE: Each league is divided into four groups, where teams play each other home and away. Group winners gain promotion to a higher league, last-placed teams are relegated to the league below

As Leagues C/D have unequal numbers, four last-placed teams in League C play off to determine final relegation places


Matchdays: Sep 3-5, 6-8, Oct 8-10, 11-13, Nov 12-14, 15-17

Two best UEFA Nations League group winners will qualify for FIFA World Cup play-offs – final chance to qualify for 2022 tournament in Qatar

If any team has already gained World Cup or play-off berth through direct qualifying matches, next best-placed team will take play-off position
