Patagonia’s “Route of Parks” unveiled

Chile has launched a huge scenic route through its Patagonian wilderness to boost tourism and highlight the need for conservation

Route of Parks: Spans 2,800km, connecting 17 national parks and covering 11.5 million hectares – equivalent to three times size of Switzerland

Route is brainchild of Tompkins Conservation – foundation set up by late Douglas Tompkins and
wife Kristine – which donated more than 400,000 hectares to Chile last year to create five parks
