Mexico border wall design takes shape

Construction work is underway on U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall designed to stop illegal immigration from Mexico, with contractors building eight prototypes in the San Diego area

Bollard wall: 5.5m-high fence along immediate border. See-through design uses concrete-filled steel bollards

Radar and cameras can detect people up to 12km away during day or night. Live video footage sent to border agents at command post

Automated vehicle gates: At least 6m wide (up to 15m wide for farm equipment)

Levee wall: Built using reinforced concrete, to look “aesthetically pleasing” on northern side. Should have anti-climb features and ability to withstand attacks using sledgehammers, pick axes and other tools for at least one hour
