What happens on inauguration day?

“I do solemnly swear...” with these words, president-elect Donald Trump will take the oath of office on January 20, to formally become the 45th President of the United States

1. Morning Worship: Service at St. John’s Episcopal Church – tradition began in 1933

2. Capitol building: President Obama and president- elect Trump travel to Capitol

3. Vice president: Indiana Governor Mike Pence takes oath of office

4. Swearing in ceremony: At noon Trump is sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts at west front of the Capitol  building. President Obama and First Lady Michelle leave by helicopter

5. Inaugural address:  Jackie Evancho sings national anthem. Following performance by Mormon Tabernacle Choir and words from religious leaders, Trump delivers his first presidential address

6. Inaugural luncheon: President Trump is escorted to Statuary Hall in  Capitol for traditional Inaugural luncheon – convention that dates back to 1897

7. Inaugural parade: President Trump with guests review parade down Pennsylvania Avenue to White House

8. Inaugural ball: President Trump and First Lady Melania will make an appearance at three official balls

9. Concert: Presidential inaugural events capped by Make America Great! public concert at Lincoln Memorial
