Victory for Catalan independence parties

Separatists won a clear majority of seats in Catalonia’s parliament, but failed to get a majority of the popular vote in an election seen as a referendum on independence from Spain

JUNTS PEL SÍ (Together For Yes) Pro-independence alliance led by regional president Artur Mas (right), and anti-capitalist CUP win 47.8% of votes
