Oscar Pistorius sentenced to five years in prison

South African athlete Oscar Pistorius has been jailed for five years for the culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp

2011: Helps South Africa to relay final at IAAF World Championships 2012

2012: Becomes first double amputee to compete at Olympic Games. Wins two golds and a silver at London Paralympics

2013 Arrested and charged with shooting dead his 29-year-old girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.  Pistorius claims he mistook her for an intruder 

Sep 12, 2014: Following six-month trial, Pistorius found guilty of culpable homicide (manslaughter). Athlete also found guilty of discharging firearm at restaurant in Jan 2013

Oct 21: Sentenced to five years in jail. Also given three-year suspended sentence for firearms charge
