Stones launch ÒForty LicksÓ double CD

LONDON, September 30, Graphic News: Rolling Stones fans will be able to buy a greatest hits CD spanning the bandÕs entire career for the first time in 30 years. 

Entitled ÒForty Licks,Ó set for release on September 30 in most of the world and a day later in the United States, the two-CD set contains 36 digitally-remastered classic Rolling Stones tracks ranging from early 1960s classics such as Ò(I CanÕt Get No) SatisfactionÓ to recent hits and four new, unreleased tracks.

The four new Stones tracks are ÒDonÕt Stop,Ó ÒKeys to Your Love,Ó ÒLosing My TouchÓ and ÒStealing My Heart.Ó

ÒTheyÕre not old tunes that we dug up or even things that were relatively new. These are new new,Ó Mick Jagger recently told Rolling Stone magazine. ÒÔDon't StopÕ is the single-y one. ÔStealing My HeartÕ is more like garage rock with a hook. ÔKey to Your LoveÕ is kind of like a soul ballad, but not very slow. It has a kind of ÔBeast of BurdenÕ tempo. And ÔLosing My TouchÕ is Keith singing a ballad. And that is very slow.Ó 

The Stones lost control of much of its famous catalogue to former manager Allen Klein in the early 1970s and has been unable to release a single retrospective album since then.

ÒMick asked that we should try to square the circle. The Stones wanted it and IÕm happy we could do it with them,Ó said Klein in a statement. The collection will bridge the gap between the tracks controlled by KleinÕs ABKCO Records and the current Rolling Stones label, Virgin -- part of the EMI group.

The StonesÕ Licks World Tour is currently travelling through the U.S. and Canada until the end of November. In January and February Licks will go to the Far East and Australia. Between June and August Licks will tour Europe, finishing with three shows on the U.S. East Coast in September.
