Europe Day

LONDON, May 1, Graphic News:  A SPEECH given by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman on May 9, 1950, proved to be the first step towards the present European Union. The date provides an annual public occasion for celebrating the EUÕs aims of peace and common purpose.
The European flag consists of 12 stars: this number will remain unchanged however many countries join the EU.
The European anthem is the prelude to ÒOde to JoyÓ from BeethovenÕs ninth symphony.
