Whatever Sir Peter does -- he does a lot of it. His work in the theatre, television and in movies has been widely acclaimed, and rewarded with two Oscars, three Emmys and recognition throughout the world. But it is his efforts on behalf of under-privileged children that not only sets him apart but also, it is widely believed, has given him the most personal satisfaction. Ustinov, is quite literally, a man of the world, a truly cosmopolitan human being. The blood of many nations courses through his veins, so his compassion and humanity know no boundaries. Involvement in more than 50 films, as either writer, producer, director -- and sometimes all three -- together with the authorship of more than 20 stage plays and appearances in award-winning television productions, means that his artistic heritage is ensured. But more important are the thousands of needy children throughout the world, who have benefited from tireless works of the man who always insists: ÒCall me what you like -- but donÕt call me sir!Ó And Another Thing One of Sir PeterÕs grandmothers was Ethiopian and one of his grandfathers was a Russian officer in the TsarÕs army /ENDS Sources: WhoÕs Who; www.Britannica.com; www.encarta.msn.com; www.resoftlinks.com
