April 26, 2019 -- The largest Democratic field of the modern U.S. political era is competing for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination.
The sprawling Democratic field features candidates ranging from 37 to 77 years old; liberals and moderates; senators, governors and mayors; and an unprecedented number of women and minorities.
Former vice president, Joe Biden, has started his presidential campaign with a lead over the Democratic field.
According to the Real Clear Politics average of national polls, Biden leads all comers with the support of 29.3% of Democratic voters. Bernie Sanders is second at 23% -- with everyone else far behind.
Democrats view the upcoming election as a must-win, and they're looking to nominate someone who is their best hope to beat President Donald Trump.
